Plugging a plot hole

Hello!

I just though I’d call this press conference here to announce a redact. One of my fine commenters who has an amazing memory pointed out an inconsistency with the Banishment Ritual and how it works. Its function was made extremely clear in episode 4 when Myra first reads about it, but she makes a contrary claim about how the spell works much more recently in episode 11. For the sake of consistency and the future of spellcasting, I’ve gone back and fixed this error, namely the spell description in EP04.

And just for the sake of transparency, Here are the edits:

Old EP04 panel: The Banishment Ritual is an extremely powerful light magic attack. Single target. When used on an enemy demon or undead type monster, it defeats them instantly. If the particular enemy has immunity to instant-death, it deals a massive amount of light-type damage to them instead, usually enough to finish them off anyway. When used on an ally, it cures the status condition "possessed," banishing the evil spirit in the process. This is one of the few spells that can cure this ailment.

EP11 statement: With the spirit in a dormant state, it's hard to target--the Banishing Ritual could really damage Leonard's mind instead. So, I'm looking up other spells...

Updated EP04: The Banishment Ritual is an extremely powerful light magic attack. Single-target. When used on an enemy demon or undead type monster, it defeats them instantly. If the particular enemy has immunity to instant-death, it deal a massive amount of light-type damage to them instead, usually enough to finish them off anyway. Under the correct circumstances, The Banishment Ritual is on of the few spells that can cure the status condition "possessed". See Chapter 11 for more details.

(Note the cheeky mention of “chapter 11” in there. Not actually a 4th wall break, but it’s as close as I’ll allow myself to come to one in this comic.)

Thanks for keeping me on my toes, audience! You’re the best.
